RIYADH, October 29, 2017 – The Information Ministers of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt and the UAE, who held a meeting on Sunday in Manama, welcomed the US strategy on Iran as they emphasized the importance of combating terrorism and its sponsors.
“A meeting of the ministers of information of countries combatting terrorism took place on Sunday, October 29th 2017 in Manama, Bahrain. During their meeting, the ministers praised the US strategy towards Iran, one of the biggest sponsors of terrorism, and stressed the importance of fighting terrorism and any party supporting it,” an official statement said.
The information ministers of the four countries also stressed the need to address Qatar’s interference in the internal affairs of Arab countries through the promotion of political Islam, which adopts terrorism to achieve its goals, and which has started years ago and continues, in a clear and systematic policy of subversion.
The ministers highlighted the importance of countering hate speech, promoted by Qatar’s government and state media, as well as Doha’s policy of isolating the Qatari people from their Gulf and Arab neighbours.
The ministers of information stressed the importance of promoting the values of tolerance and cultural diversity, and strengthening positive interaction between societies, as well as highlighting the cultural facets of our region and its tolerant values.
The meeting’s agenda also included discussions on reinforcing joint media action to serve the international efforts to combat extremism and terrorism in the world and to stand against hate speech.
