RIYADH, October 17, 2017 – The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia issued a Royal Order on Tuesday to establish the Complex of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for the Prophet’s Hadith, with Madinah as its headquarters.
This is an unprecedented initiative to serve Islam through the creation of a solid scientific reference to vet and verify the authenticity of hadith, or reports describing the sayings, actions, or habits, of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH).
The purpose of this scientific verification process, which will be overseen by a supreme council of senior Islamic scholars from around the world, is to study, compile, sort, and authenticate the Prophet’s hadiths with the purpose of eliminating fake and extremist texts and any texts that contradict the teachings of Islam and justify the committing of crimes, murders and terrorist acts which have no place in Islam, the religion of peace.
The council’s president and members shall be appointed by a royal decree. The Order appointed Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hassan Al-Sheikh, member of the Senior Scholars Council, as Chairman of the Scholarly Council of the complex.
This center in the city of the Prophet will become a trusted source of the correct and authenticate hadith, which is considered to be the second point of reference on Islamic law for Muslims after the Holy Koran.
The establishment of this center is testament to the care of the Kingdom to safeguard the religion of Islam from extremists and propagators of hate speech and takfiri thought.
