RIYADH, January 16 (CIC) – Saudi Arabia’s population grew by 2.52 per cent to 32.5 million by the end of 2017, up from 31.7 million the previous year.
According to figures released this week by the General Authority for Statistics (GaStat), males make up 57.5 per cent of the population, while the female population stands at 42.5 per cent.
According to the GaStat numbers, Saudi nationals make up 20.4 million, or 62.6 per cent of the total population, with 50.94 per cent of those males and 49.06 per cent females. The data also indicated that 58.5 per cent of Saudis are under the age of 30.
According to the figures, Makkah region in western Saudi Arabia is the most populated area in the Kingdom with 8.6 million people, followed by the Riyadh region with 8.2 million and the Eastern Province with 4.9 million people.
