Over 60,000 titles representing an array of genres are on offer for readers of all age groups
RIYADH, March 11 (CIC) – Riyadh International Book Fair, one of the most anticipated events on Saudi Arabia’s annual cultural calendar, will be held at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Centre from March 14 to 24.
The 10-day fair, organised by the Ministry of Culture and Information, will offer more than 60,000 books from a range of genres and for readers of all age groups. In addition to offering the books at a discounted rate, the fair will also include literary discussion, seminars and workshops.
The event serves as a cultural bridge between the Arab region and the wider world, providing a networking platform for publishers, writers, scholars and academic institutions through quality exchanges between authors, publishers and readers. One of the main objectives of the fair is to promote literacy amongst young Saudis, in a bid to furthermore develop the Kingdom’s knowledge-based economy.
Each year the Riyadh International Book Fair nominates a country as its guest of honour and allocates a special pavilion for it to display its culture and literature. The United Arab Emirates is the nation of honour at this year’s fair.
The venue will be open from 10am to 10pm from Saturday to Thursday and from 3pm to 10pm on Friday.
The Riyadh International Book Fair is considered one of the largest cultural events in the Kingdom. Last year it attracted more than 500,000 visitors and over 500 international publishing houses representing the Arab world and beyond.
