They were killed during a security raid on one of the terrorist organisation’s strongholds in the province of Abyan
ADEN, Yemen, 18 April 2018 – Two leaders of Al-Qaeda terrorist organization in Yemen were killed on Wednesday after a security raid executed by security forces in the Yemeni province of Abyan, security sources said.
The security sources said that the two Al-Qaeda leaders in Yemen — Murad Abdullah Mohammed al-Doubli, known as Abu Hamza al-Batani; and Hassan Basurie — were killed in the morning after a raid executed by the Security Belt brigade forces in Abyan province on a stronghold of the terrorist organisation in Al-Wadiah district.
The security forces clashed with members of Al-Qaeda in the area of Al-Battan in Al-Wadiah district in Abyan province, which resulted in the deaths of the organization’s two leaders, who are among the most dangerous leaders of Al-Qaeda in Yemen, the sources added.
The Security Belt, or Al-Hizam Brigade, is a UAE-backed force that was formed for the purpose of maintaining internal security in Aden with the approval of Yemeni President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi. The force is now back exercising its original role of maintaining the security of Aden.
