The Director of the Support Center invites UNICEF to discuss the opportunity to reopen call center
RIYADH, October 5, 2018 – The Yemen Comprehensive Humanitarian Operations (YCHO) Support Center expressed deep concern about UNICEF’s decision to suspend aid operations in Yemen.
The Director of the Support Center invited the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to discuss the opportunity to reopen a call center in areas controlled by the legitimate Yemeni government, it added in a statement.
“We are aware that the decision was taken after information confirming that the Houthi militia is preventing UNICEF from establishing a call center in areas that controlled by Iranian-backed Houthi militia,” YCHO said in a statement.
“We know that the action is taken to ensure transparency in the supervision of the distribution and monitoring of aid in order to prevent Houthis corruption,” it added
“We also condemn any hindering of humanitarian operations by the Houthi militias.”
The Saudi Ambassador to Yemen, the Executive Director of Yemen Comprehensive Humanitarian Operations Support Center, HE Mohammed Al Jabir, called for a meeting with UNICEF to discuss the establishment of a call center in areas controlled by the Legitimate Yemeni Government and discuss ways of cooperation to alleviate the suffering of the brothers in Yemen especially, children.
