The tournament, which was scheduled for December 22, will be rescheduled, says the GSA
RIYADH, Nov 10, 2018 – Saudi Arabia’s General Sports Authority (GSA) announced the postponement of the King Salman Tennis Championship which was to have pitted Rafael Nadal against Novak Djokovic. The reason for the postponement is the recent injury and subsequent surgery of Rafael Nadal.
“Nadal’s recovery time contradicts the currently scheduled timing of the tournament,” GSA said in a statement.
“The tournament, which was supposed to take place December 22nd, will be rescheduled. The General Sports Authority will announce the new dates of the championship in due course and, in the interim, wishes the tennis champion, Rafael Nadal, a fast recovery,” it added.
The match between the two tennis super stars was to have taken place in the Saudi Arabian port city of Jeddah.
