The Saudi Center for International Communication (CIC) was established in August 2017. It is an initiative of the Ministry for Culture and Information (MOCI) to facilitate relationships with the global media community. The Center serves as a central source of information on Saudi Arabia, which includes all publicly available government statistics. It also provides content and responds to media enquiries on a variety of topics such as tourism, gender equality, human rights, local investment opportunities among many others.
CIC’s principal mandate is to aid the international press in understanding the cultural, social and political profile of Saudi Arabia and in reporting events involving the Kingdom in an honest and transparent manner. The Center is also instrumental in supporting the Ministry’s drive to revitalize the culture and media industries at home, support government communications abroad and strengthen Saudi Arabia’s cultural relations around the world. Ultimately, the result will be a media industry that is on par with its international competitors.
CIC will also work in tandem with other entities within MOCI to develop an environment in Saudi Arabia that is conducive to stimulating contemporary cultural activity while, at the same time, preserving Saudi, Arab and Islamic cultural heritage and history.
CIC pioneers a number of initiatives; Know Saudi which is a social platform through which people from around the world have the opportunity to get to know more about Saudi Arabia, its society, and culture.
